Abstract

Background: The existence of Green Open Space (RTH) in urban areas has been mandated through Law Number 26 of 2007 and Presidential Regulation Number 60 of 2020. Green open space for urban areas is 30% (20% public green open space and 10% private green open space). The availability of green open space is related to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect in large urban areas, one of which is Tangerang City. The research was carried out with the aim of providing justification for the importance of sufficient green open space in urban areas as a solution to reduce the UHI effect. Method: The research was conducted by examining the implications of green open space, RTB area and population and vehicle density on the UHI phenomenon, then outline the implications of UHI on the transformation of the comfort index and surface energy balance in Tangerang City. Conclusion: From the research findings, it can be concluded that RTH has negative relationship with air temperature. Decrease of RTH giving rise to air temperature and vice versa.
