Aim and Scope

Journal of Sustainability, Society, and Eco-Welfare (JSSEW) is a leading peer-reviewed and open-access journal, published by Institute for Advanced Social, Science, and Sustainable Future (IASSSF), Jakarta, Indonesia, with e-ISSN: 3025-1524. JSSEW is published twice a year (January and July), and all articles published are available online with open access.

 

Aims

JSSEW seeks to publish high-quality scholarly works from researchers, academics, and practitioners that contribute to the development of knowledge and theory in the fields of sustainability, environmental science, social welfare, and eco-welfare. The journal emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research, aiming to address both contentious and contemporary issues that are of global relevance.

 

Focus

The focus of JSSEW is on promoting interdisciplinary studies that address the complex interrelationships between social, environmental, and economic factors in sustainable development. The journal encourages collaborative writing among academics, practitioners, and policy analysts, particularly those that bring innovative perspectives and solutions to sustainable development challenges.

 

Scope

This journal seeks to publish a broad range of scholarly articles, including: 

  1. Socio-Environmental Issues: Research on the impact of human activities on the environment, including land clearing, illegal logging, fuelwood use, and wildlife consumption. This section also explores the socio-economic factors driving these practices and their implications for sustainable development.

  2. Ecology: Studies on various ecological disciplines, including aquatic, microbial, terrestrial, taxonomic, systems, evolutionary, behavioral, and population ecology. This category covers research contributing to the understanding of ecological processes and biodiversity essential for maintaining natural ecosystem balance.

  3. Natural Welfare: Examination of how natural resources and ecosystems contribute to human welfare, focusing on the sustainable management of these resources to enhance quality of life and support economic development.

  4. Sustainable Welfare: Analysis of the interrelated dimensions of sustainability—People, Prosperity, Planet, Partnership, and Peace. This section includes research on integrating these dimensions into policies and practices to promote long-term well-being and resilience.

  5. Society Systems: Exploration of societal systems, including traditional knowledge, community learning, and common-sense approaches to sustainability. This section also includes studies on the role of cultural practices and social norms in shaping sustainable behaviors and practices.
