Aim and Scope

PHPS is a leading peer-reviewed and open-access journal, published by Institute for Advanced Social, Science, and Sustainable Future (IASSSF), Jakarta, Indonesia. PHPS is published twice a year (February and August), and all articles published are available online with open access.

 

Aims

PHPS journal aims to advance the understanding of public health issues through the lens of health anthropology and the One Health approach. It seeks to provide a platform for research that explores how cultural, social, and environmental factors influence public health problems and solutions. The journal is dedicated to publishing studies that integrate anthropological insights with public health practices and the One Health concept to address complex health challenges comprehensively.

 

Focus

The journal focuses on research that applies anthropological perspectives to public health issues, including the One Health approach. It emphasizes studies that explore the cultural, social, and environmental dimensions of health problems and interventions. The journal seeks to highlight research that provides a deeper understanding of how these factors impact health outcomes and contribute to the development of effective, culturally sensitive, and integrated solutions.

 

Scope

This journal seeks to publish a broad range of scholarly articles, including: 

  1. Cultural Influences on Health: Research on how cultural beliefs, practices, and norms affect health behaviors and outcomes, including the impact of cultural context on health interventions and policies.

  2. Social Determinants of Health: Studies examining the social factors that influence health, such as socioeconomic status, community networks, and social inequalities, and how these factors shape health disparities.

  3. Behavioral and Ethnographic Studies: Analysis of health behaviors and practices through ethnographic methods, including fieldwork and participant observation, to understand health practices in different cultural settings.

  4. Health Systems and Local Practices: Research on how local health systems and traditional practices interact with formal health care systems, including the integration of indigenous knowledge and practices in health interventions.

  5. Global Health and Cultural Exchange: Exploration of how global health issues are influenced by cultural exchanges and cross-cultural interactions, including the impact of globalization on health practices and policies.

  6. One Health Approach: Studies on the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, exploring how anthropological insights can enhance understanding and interventions within the One Health framework.
