About the Journal

The Journal of Character and Environment (JOCAE) is committed to raising public awareness about environmental sustainability. JOCAE publishes research articles and reviews from various disciplines (multidisciplinary) related to human character in relation to the environment. JOCAE also focuses on research in the fields of education, science, and social humanities.

Journal of Character and Environment (JOCAE) is a leading peer-reviewed and open-access journal, published by Institute for Advanced Social, Science, and Sustainable Future (IASSSF), Jakarta, Indonesia, with e-ISSN: 3025-0404. JOCAE is published twice a year (January and July), and all articles published are available online with open access.

Aims

JOCAE aims to deepen the understanding of the interactions between environmental ethics, local traditions, and socio-cultural aspects within the context of environmental management. This journal is committed to advancing research that provides insights into how cultural values and ethics shape and are shaped by environmental policies. Its primary goal is to enhance public awareness about environmental issues and promote the application of sustainability principles within communities, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

 

Focus

JOCAE focuses on publishing research that integrates environmental ethics with cultural and social contexts. The journal prioritizes studies that explore how cultural values and practices influence and are influenced by environmental management, and vice versa. Articles that offer innovative perspectives, challenge conventional views, and propose practical solutions to enrich sustainability efforts are particularly welcomed.

 

Scope

This journal seeks to publish a broad range of scholarly articles, including: 

  1. Environmental Ethics: Research on the ethical principles guiding human-environment interactions and how ethical considerations impact environmental policies and practices.

  2. Environmental Education and Cultural Integration: Studies on innovative educational approaches that enhance environmental literacy by incorporating local cultural values and traditions into environmental education curricula.

  3. Cultural Impacts on Environmental Practices: Examination of how cultural beliefs, traditions, and values affect environmental practices and how cultural approaches can support or enhance sustainability efforts.

  4. Local Knowledge and Practices: Exploration of traditional and local knowledge systems that contribute to environmental management, and how this knowledge can be integrated with modern environmental strategies.

  5. Policy and Practice Implications: Evaluation of how research findings influence environmental policies and practices, and recommendations for policymakers and practitioners to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
