Abstract

Background: This study aims to identify the Halal Ecosystem and Halal Literacy in the development of Halal Regulations for the Sharia Economy. The halal ecosystem encompasses all entities involved in the production, distribution, and consumption of halal products and services. Halal literacy, on the other hand, refers to the understanding and knowledge of halal principles and practices. It is crucial for all countries to learn to prepare society for the continuously evolving financial system. Communities will need a deeper understanding of economics to actively participate in a global economy that tends to change. Methodology: The data analysis method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative analysis. Qualitative research is conducted to build knowledge through understanding and discovery, aiming to uncover comprehensive and meaningful information without excluding quantitative data in the form of numbers. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the ecosystem needed to enhance the halal industry is based on the supply, demand, and support approaches. From the supply aspect, the presence of Indonesia's halal industry sectors (food, tourism, fashion, pharmaceuticals, media, and renewable energy) has prepared various products for consumers with halal certification. Government support, both as a regulator ensuring compliance with halal standards, implementer facilitating the growth of the halal industry, and evaluator monitoring the industry's progress, is crucial as a supporting component within the halal industry ecosystem. The products of the halal industry have experienced significant growth, including the halal food and beverage sector, financial services, tourism, fashion, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, as well as media and entertainment, along with other sectors like healthcare and education. Novelty/Originality of the Article: The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive analysis of the halal ecosystem and halal literacy within the context of developing sharia economic regulations, as well as the involvement of the government as a supporting component of the halal industry.
